I've been designing for brands for years. And I have some thoughts.

Athletic Shoe Websites

A collection of the homepages…just for fun.

I found myself on Converse’s website reading the story of their upcoming shoe release, the All Star Pro BB. The shoe represents a modern evolution of possibly the most classic athletic shoe style: The Chuck Taylor.

It struck me that the athletic shoe category is a great place to study websites. They tend to excel at using technology. They weave together design, style, and fashion. They serve a diverse set of audiences and find interesting ways to tell stories with a variety of approaches: product-first, lifestyle-first, celebrity-first.

So, I collected 21 websites for the top athletic shoe brands found on Zappos.com, Eastbay.com, Footlocker.com, and Finishline.com.

Take a look and see what you see.
